Facility Assessment & Recommendations
Assessment Date: Sept 4, 2018
Facility/Location: ABC Industrial Company
Assessor: Cary Winters
Attendees
John Jennings, EHS Manager – ABC Industrial Company
Adam Watkins, Account Manager – Distributor
Area Description
Used Oil Area
Current State
There are currently 4 drums sitting up against the wall and 1 IBC tote of used oil on a spill pallet that is out of compliance because it is only 66 gallons capacity vs. the 300+ gallon capacity needed for an IBC tote.
Compliance Concerns
- EPA 40 CFR 264.175 – Containment of Containers Containing Free Liquid
- Rule 40 CFR 12 – Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC Plan)
Recommendations
Since you already have a 4 drum spill pallet that is sitting under the IBC tote, I would suggest moving that unit over to place under the 4 drums. Then, you will simply need to get an IBC spill pallet that would be compliant with the EPA regulations of 100% capacity needed of the container being contained. The part number for this solution is 1158 and is listed below. If you like the drums to be seperated in set of 2 (how they currently are), then you can get 2 fully compliant 2 drum spill decks with the roll out bladder as shown below (#2329 x 2 Qty). These two additions will put this area in full EPA compliance with any container storage regulations and no spill exposure for SPCC plans.
