FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 (FF H1) supplies power and transmits communication digitally between host systems such as a DCS or a PLC and field instrumentation.
Segment Protectors are fieldbus couplers for connecting instruments to the fieldbus segment.
They provide short-circuit protection to the trunk line. This is important where hot work performed on a field instrument would cause the entire segment to fail through unintended short circuits to the spur line.
While working on devices, it is possible that short circuits can occur on the spur connection. This is why our fieldbus installation technology offers individual protection at each spur. When a short circuit occurs, the current is limited, and the segment remains in operation. When the fault is removed or repaired, the spur automatically resumes operation. This important feature enables the use of fieldbus even in the most demanding environments.
